Google has always stated they want to improve the user experience on the internet by providing the most relevant search results on their search engine. With a set of webmaster guidelines, they want webmasters and bloggers to adhere to simple rules to help ensure their listings are clear of garbage websites that provide next to no useful content for the end user.

Their latest battle is against those of us who buy text links to manipulate our page ranks which affects our rankings in the SERPs. They are making it clear they do not like the practice of buying links, and are even encouraging all of us bloggers and webmasters to report each other for doing so.

Aaron over at SEO Book has a great post on the real reason Google doesn’t like paid links.

The more I think about it the more I realize why Google doesn’t like the various flavors of paid links. It has nothing to do with organic search relevancy. The problem is that Google wants to broker all ad deals, and many forms of paid links are more efficient than AdWords is. If that news gets out, AdWords and Google crumble.
