ramblings May 1st, 2007
There was (is?) a website encouraging all bloggers to stop posting for one day (yesterday, actually) in honor of the
shooting victims at Virginia Tech. I find it surprising that so many bloggers actually participated in this. Don’t get me wrong, the shooting was an unfortunate event but not blogging for a day is not a way to honor the victims.
There are much better ways to remember the victims, and to help out everyone affected. Why not make a donation instead to the memorial fund? Include them in your prayers tonight. Have a moment of silence. Write something meaningful on your blog (hey, isn’t that what blogs are for?). Anything, but stay silent!
At the risk of sounding like a complete ass… the world does not pause for anybody. Life goes on.

I agree with you as well. It was definitely a terrible tragedy, but not blogging for the day won’t help. They should have instead encouraged people to write a post about it that day rather than writing nothing.
