I have been looking at various ways to build new, as well as grow my existing internet income. One method that is very popular, is by parking a domain name on services such as Sedo. Sedo’s main business is being the middle man in domain name sales. Their biggest claim to fame is brokering the sale of the domain vodka.com for US $3M. Hundreds of smaller domain name sales occur daily at sedo.com. Another service that Sedo offers is their domain parking service.

Back in December, I decided to sign-up for this service for an old domain name that I was no longer using (but was still paying for). I kept the domain name because it is an excellent adult domain name that maybe someday I can sell or even use. On my last renewal, I renewed the domain name for 5 years for under $80.

Signing up for the domain parking service on sedo took less than a minute. After signing up, I had to point the domain to the sedo nameservers. I don’t know how long this process takes as I just left it alone for a few days. After several days I decided to log-in to Sedo to check to see how much I was making on my domain name and boy was I impressed. This domain name had been dormant for about 5 years now so I had expected there to be little or no revenue opportunities. To my surprise, in the two days that it was parked on sedo, I had made $1.12 from the Google ads that sedo displays.

The revenue stayed pretty much consistent throughout the rest of December and all through Janurary. Taking a closer look at the January numbers revealed some interesting results. The CTR on the page is 45.39%, and the CPM is a whopping $20.05! If the monthly unique visitors remains at just over 800 then by the time the domain expires it will have netted over $1,000. Pretty good if you ask me! For those of you wondering if it can be worthwhile to park your domains, it sure can. If you have any unused domains, try parking them at Sedo to see if you can make some money! Let me know how you do.
