Dyson Root 6

I just picked up my latest toy for the condo on the weekend. No, its not some fancy new big screen TV, nor is it a new cell phone. In fact, I don’t even think I can classify it as a toy. I picked up a new Dyson Root 6, the hand held mini vacuum from Dyson. I already own the bigger brother of this mini Dyson, the Dyson DC15 (The Ball). While the bigger brother is an excellent vacuum cleaner (if you’re shopping for a vacuum, I suggest you go pick up a Dyson) I needed something smaller for the quick jobs.

I got hooked to the Dyson line up after reading about their products. I don’t know if I’ve been suckered by clever marketing, or if the cyclone technology really does help but I love both my Dyson vacuums. When I first got the Dyson DC15, I actually thoroughly vacuumed my upstairs (carpet) with a Dirt Devil upright vacuum. I then put the old vacuum away and unboxed the new Dyson to see if it could pick up anything that was left over. As soon as I powered up the Dyson and moved it a few feet I immediately saw crap flying around the dust bin. I was in shock! This thing sucks! (sorry, I had to). After experiencing a dyson vacuum I just had to add to the collection by picking up the Dyson Root 6.

After using the handheld version for the last few days, I can definitely recommend it anyone that finds that using the accessory addons with the main vacuum too cumbersome. As I write this post, I can safely say there is not a speck of dust anywhere. Its so small and easy to use that I find I use it a few times per day just doing spot dusting. I used it to clear the dust from the fridge, the dust gathering by the vents on my computer and around my home theatre. If you read my Top 10 Ways To Save Energy article, then you’ll remember that dusting was #3 on the list.

Removing dust helps electronics run cooler (and last longer), while also allowing it to run more efficiently. If your power supply is clear of dust, it can cool your computer more effectively and your fans can slow down resulting in both a quieter, and more energy efficient computer. This is my excuse for splurging on this new mini vacuum. For all the guys out there that hate cleaning or taking care of the house, buy this! Your significant other will love you that much more because you’ll have so much fun dusting and vacuuming! :)

Hopefully next time I make one of these posts it will be something more along the lines of a new Playstation 3, or a 70″ television. Oh and by the way, after proof-reading this post I realized it reads like many sponsored posts out there but I assure you, this is not a sponsored post and is what I actually feel about these two products.
