It is nearly a year in the making, but it looks like it is finally here! When Google acquired YouTube for a then record breaking $1.65 Billion, many people wondered when Google was going to start integrating ads into the videos. It looks like they have finally finished tweaking their ad overlay system for YouTube. Available starting soon you should be able to create YouTube Video Units in your AdSense setup.

In your AdSense setup you will have an option to choose your own categories, or let Google choose and then opt-out of categories you do not want. This will allow the system to continually provide new videos for your visitors to watch and earn you some money. You also have the ability to design the video player to fit into your site content by choosing the colors.

I logged into my AdSense account and I do not see the option for the YouTube Video Unit yet, but I will post about it as soon as I set it up and see the earning potential. I am confident that this will be a great money maker, but I wont know for sure until I go live with it. I’ll keep you posted! I’d be surprised if you have not signed up for Google AdSense, but if you haven’t then there hasn’t been a better time to join than now with this YouTube Video Unit announcement.
