I Switched To Google Reader
internet June 18th, 2007Lately, I have been looking for ways to help improve my productivity to get myself organized. One of the ways I have decided to try is to cut down on the amount of time I spend visiting websites and blogs. To do this, I am now adding all of my favorite blogs into my Google Reader. I am sure I will still visit many of my regular websites from time to time by habit but I think over time I will only visit to leave comments.
As I am quite new to the world of RSS readers, I can’t really say how good Google Reader is. I can say that my first experience with it was rather positive. Everything was very intuitive and just worked. I love it when products just work!
If you find you’re wasting a lot of time mindlessly “surfing” the web checking to see what sites have been updated, try using a feed reader like Google Reader. If you do, remember to add my feed into your Google Reader.

I kept getting referred to NetVibes as an alternative feed reader and I’m really glad I gave it a try. If Google Reader doesn’t quite fit your needs you might want to check it out as well.

i’ve used both google reader and netvibes, but i think http://www.itsmynews.com is the best by far. I like how user friendly the lay out is, and i like how they have a site of the day. They also make it very easy to share a feed you like with a friend. Well take a look at it and tell me how you think it compares with the reader you use now.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I’ll use Google Reader for a bit to get used to it then I’ll try the other ones to see how they compare.

I really like your writting style. You give great information in an easy to read way - it is awesome. You should check out the Postiecon conference, which is coming up in Las Vegas. There are a bunch of other bloggers sharing their knowledge and expertise on creating successful blogs.
Great job. Really!!

This article was of particular relevance to me as my list of bookmarked blogs has really ballooned out of control recently!
I need to get myself onto the RSS feed reader bandwagon sooner rather than later!

I find I am still about 50/50 in terms of using Google Reader, and typing in URLs and visiting the sites directly. Its just a habit that will eventually fade away as using the reader is so much easier.
I can’t wait to try out NetVibes and Itsmynews.com to see how they compare.

I just use an RSS program, it saves logging into Google everytime. Though I think my day would become more productive with Google Reader, I might have to give it a go!
