The answer to this question might sound obvious, but that may not be the case. Most users would simply use their Google Toolbar indicator to see what PageRank their site has. However, this will not always tell you the full picture–especially when a PageRank update is underway.

To get an accurate gauge of your PageRank, even when data centers are being updated on the latest values you can use a data center specific query tool to see what your PageRank is, based on each of the servers in Google’s network. There are 72 known data centers located around the world, and when there is a PageRank update, the information is sent from data center to data center slowly propogating the data around the globe.

I posted that I will be recieving a PR4, even though the Google Toolbar reports my site as being PR0. I knew this because I used Rank Alert’s DataCenter Watch tool. Using this tool, I can see that New York Times is dropping from a PR9 to PR8. Try the tool out, what sites do you see gaining big PR or losing some PR?
