Google Web History Search
internet April 23rd, 2007Has this ever happened to you? A friend asks you to recommend a great web hosting company for a new blog he/she wanted to start up. You remember reading a review of an excellent web hosting company, so you say of course! You start going back through the websites you read daily to look for it. After going through several sites unable to locate the review you start checking your web history to look for sites it might have been on. No luck.
Google understands the fear some people may have about this feature and that is why it is disabled by default. Until Google recieves permission to begin indexing your web surfing, the feature will be disabled. If you can get over the fact that Google will be storing every single web page you visit (yes, even those sites!) this new search service will become very valuable. Not only will it make finding an old website you visited much easier, it will help with regular searches as well by bringing in more relevant results based on your previous web surfing history.
If you want to try this out, visit the Google Web History page. If you have more questions regarding this new feature from Google, try reading the Google Web History FAQ.
