Google: Report Sites Buying Or Selling Text Links
SEO April 16th, 2007As far as the details, it can be pretty short. Something like “Example.com is selling links; here’s a page on example.com that demonstrates that” or “www.shadyseo.com is buying links. You can see the paid links on www.example.com/path/page.html” is all you need to mention. That will be enough for Google to start testing out some new techniques we’ve got — thanks!
While I don’t have a problem with Google modifying their algorithm to give less weight to text links deemed as paid links, the fact they are asking for users to report sites that are buying/selling links does not sit well with me. There was not much information as to what they will be doing with the paid link reports that are submitted.
What is going to be done with people who are reporting on their competiton? What if the links that are reported are really not paid links? What if I link to several people who write about the same content as me and someone reports them as paid links? (I don’t sell links on my blog at the moment).
Since most of you who read my blog are probably those that are buying and selling text links, you probably wont be too interested in the following links but here they are if you want to report sites selling and buying text links:
Authenticated Spam Report Form (Sign-In to Webmaster Console) or if you don’t have an account there you can use the Regular Spam Report Form
What do you think about all this? Does this affect your decision to buy/sell text links? Chime in by commenting on this post!
