Couple Technical Glitches for AuctionAds
internet, making money March 9th, 2007I wrote about a new way for bloggers to make money the other day and just wanted to write a quick update about them. The launch of AuctionAds looks to be quite good as I am starting to see their ads on a lot of blogs. I’ve been testing the ads on my car forums for a few days now and I like what it brings for my users. I will be looking at the results of this small scale test before deploying it any further. As I expected the click through rate is extremely low because of the number of pageviews of the average forum user.
Yesterday however, AuctionAds encountered a couple minor technical glitches. The first issue they have encountered is actually a problem on Commission Junction’s systems. CJ has not been able to report eBay affiliate conversions. All the data is being tracked on the eBay side so until CJ fixes this problem there wont be any conversion data when you are looking at your stats at AuctionAds. In an e-mail yesterday night, CJ said:
We are currently working to resolve this issue. Please be assured that transactions continue to be tracked and that we will ensure publishers receive credit for their commissions during this time. Commission Junction’s eBay Affiliate Team apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused.
The ETA for the fix is Monday or Tuesday of next week.
The second glitch that hit them was when they sent out the notification of the Earnings Reporting delay problem I just talked about. I’m not sure if this affected everyone or if it was an isolated issue but instead of getting the e-mail notification once, I received the message over 120 times! The good news is that it wasn’t spread out over 120 different e-mails but instead the message was repeated over and over in the e-mail body. Hopefully their e-mails are not always going to be sent like this as sending out notification e-mails that are over 1MB in size to all your members may start to clog their e-mail servers.
Again, I’m not sure if the e-mail problem is an isolated issue or if they just really wanted to drive home the message to me.
Sign-Up for AuctionAds, there are no minimum requirements–aside from having a website to slap the ads onto. :)
