BlogRush Bug? Or Is This As Designed?
internet marketing September 18th, 2007
So yesterday, like every other blogger out there it seems, I added the BlogRush widget to my blog. There is no point in me writing about it as I’ve seen a “review” of BlogRush on almost every blog I frequent. However, tonight as I was just moderating a couple comments I noticed something a bit weird with the BlogRush widget in my sidebar. Do you see anything wrong with it?
Your eyes are not fooling you, this screen-cap of the BlogRush widget running here on my blog is displaying a link to my post on Google giving away $30 Million. The BlogRush widget was designed to bring in fresh targetted traffic by displaying my blog posts on other similar blogs. The way it works in a nutshell is that for every time the widget is refreshed here on my blog, I get 1 credit on the network. When one of my links are displayed on someone else’s widget, the credit is used up.
So here I am earning credits to have my posts syndicated, only to have the BlogRush system waste my credits displaying my post on my very own widget.
BlogRush Improvements
I am sure with the huge influx of new users on the BlogRush network a ton of new bugs are being discovered. I am also sure that the BlogRush team is working feverishly to fix and update the widget. In the mean time I have figured out a work-around to this bug. I will confirm whether or not it works in a future post.
If you want to join the BlogRush network and have your blog posts show up on other blogs to get some free targetted traffic, sign-up today. BlogRush is currently handing out bonus credits for the early members as a thank-you for putting up with some of the growing pains. Once more blogs join, you will have built up a huge surplus of credits to help you draw in even more traffic.

I’m going to wait a while before I add blog rush to my blog, for reasons like this. Not that big of a deal, but I would rather have a bug-free widget.

I filtered out my own website on the widget configuration page and it seems to work. I assumed the widget would automatically filter out my blog, but I guess that was overlooked.
